At Goodwin Creek Gardens, we grow the plants that we sell. We specialize in herbs, everlasting flowers, plants for hummingbirds and butterflies, and pelargoniums. Our collection of nearly 100 lavenders is one of the largest offerings by a mail order nursery, and we are proud to grow everything organically. That's us, JIm and Dotti Becker and Snooky, at the nearby Applegate Valley Lavender farm.
The first plants we collected, maybe a dozen varieties, were scented pelargoniums that we brought home from a wonderful nursery on the Oregon Coast. We started with just 5 lavenders: 'Hidcote', 'Munstead', a generic Spanish lavender, Spike, and Woolly that we found in northern California. It is hard to believe that was nearly 40 years ago. Along the way we grew 2 acres of dried flowers for several years, had a little garden shop, wrote some books and magazine articles, taught a lot of classes, discovered and named some new plant varieties (including the very popular lavender 'Goodwin Creek Grey'), got a bit tired, but really had fun doing it all. Some of our customers have been with us for nearly the full 40 years, too. A special thanks to those loyal folks, and to everyone, who have been here with their support, encouragement, and friendship.
