This is the true culinary bay leaf from the Mediterranean. It can easily be grown in large containers and shaped as a shrub or a topiary. Established plants in colder zones may have some die-back, but will sprout again from the base of the stem. We planted a bay near our house for winter protection. It is over 25 years old and 12 feet tall and has survived temperatures down to -10º F.
