All of the milkweeds are excellent butterfly nectar plants and also serve as the sole food source for Monarch caterpillars. This species is one of the showiest herbs that we grow. It is covered with bright orange flowers throughout the early summer months. One of the only milkweeds that doesn't exude a milky sap. It needs a well-drained soil and is not long-lived in wet areas. The long pods are great for dried arrangements. Also a medicinal herb.
